This is a personal project of Jenny Volvovski, 1/3 of ALSO.

I spend a lot of time thinking about book cover design, and decided it would be a nice exercise to recreate the covers of books I’ve read.

I set a bunch of limitations for myself because I wanted the covers to look like they were part of a series. The rules were – green/black/white for color, Futura/typewriter/handwriting/(and Caslon Italic) for text, and scans/drawings/photography for the image. Sometimes, I didn’t follow the rules exactly.

The Lolita cover is for a book called “Recovering Lolita.” It will be a collection of 60 new covers for the book. Read more about it. (Lolita didn’t look good green.)

Please contact me at jenny[at]also-online.com for any inquiries.

I’ve gotten some nice write ups about the project here:
